The Fleet

Heli-Muster NT has a fleet of 14 Robinson R22’s, ranging from the original Standard and HP series, through to the Beta Series, and 1 Robinson R44 Astro. Also included in the fleet are 2 fixed wing aircraft. These consist of a Cessna 172N and a Cessna 206. The fixed wing aircraft are used for Private, Charter, and Aerial Work including Patient Travel and Dingo Baiting operating under Heli-Muster NT’s AOC (Air Operators Certificate).

The R22’s are predominantly used for Aerial Stock Mustering, contracting out to various stations across the NT and Western Australia, while the R44 is used for Scenic flight operations and Charter out of the Maud Creek Airstrip, 20km along Gorge Rd from Katherine.

The Robinson R22 and the R44 are both powered by naturally aspirated, air cooled horizontally opposed piston engines, manufactured by Lycoming. The R22 has an O-320 4 cylinder engine, which displaces 320 cubic inches, or approximately 5.2 litres, while the R44 runs a O-540 6 cylinder engine, which is 540 cubic inches, or approximately 8.85 litres.
